This tree grew via its aerial roots to encompass an entire city block! When we moved to Lana'i in 2001, we would take the ferry over to Lahaina to show at a weekend art fair held under the banyan's enormous canopy. I painted this live over a weekend--I think it captures the "hobbit like" feel we artists had during the art shows.
