My artist friend, Pam Andelin, sent this protea from her garden in Maui to Lana'i with a mutual acquaintance with the message: "Give this to Mike, he'll know what to do with it." I figured that meant, "paint it!" It was so much fun to contrast the highlights of the brass with the lambs ear texture of the flower.
