Stepping Out

I did a couple of paintings of roosters and hens that were living in the woods near the golf course.  At dawn I got down on my hands and knees to lure the birds into patches of sunlight with chickenfeed.  After a while, I had to laugh...if you had told me years ago in Chicago that one day I'd be calling chickens in Hawaii, I would have said you were nuts!  Such is life.

I really enjoy the attitude of the chickens and the complementary colors in these works--hope the joy of painting them comes through.
