While camping on the beach at Hulopo’e Bay, my wife, Kathy, and I were awakened by the methodical, "whack, whack, whack!" from this coconut trimmer. I was captivated by the adeptness of this elderly man climbing up the palm tree. He had such skill cutting the fronds with his red machete. I am particularly happy with the composition of this painting--diagonal trunks lead the eye to a circular array of palm fronds which spotlight the trimmer.
