Title: Kamani Natural Edge Bowl With Four Carved Feet
Material: Native Hawaiian Kamani wood, with natural edge and carved feet
Size: 6" tall x 16.5" wide
One-of-a-kind Native Hawaiian Kamani bowl, by master wood turner Dr. Craig Mason. This piece features a natural "live" edge and four hand-carved feet. The Kamani tree grew in downtown Kailua on a main street. Approximately 10 years before the tree was removed, it was struck by a large delivery truck. The tree survived the accident (the truck did not) and over time, the shakes healed. 10 years later, the tree was again struck by a vehicle and the city decided to remove it. The Koa "pewas" were placed on the underside along the most extensive shake to ensure no cracks develop in the future.
Dr. Mason has been working with wood for more than 32 years, and uses only reclaimed wood...he never purchases wood or cuts down trees.
