Lana'i was once the world's largest pineapple producer, and this painting honors that legacy. I set up the still life for this painting on a wine crate in my back yard so I could try to capture the golden glow of these pineapples in the afternoon light. I draped Kathy’s wool coat from Chicago behind the arrangement to block out my view of a tree (which is the only time the coat has been out of our closet here!
