One-of-a-kind semi-closed koa wood bowl, by master turner Dr. Craig Mason. The semi-closed natural edge form is from a branch crotch with heavy spalting, and a burned, textured rim. The wood for this bowl came from a Koa tree on Mount Tantalus that died of old age. Dr. Mason saved it from the chipper.
Dr. Mason has been working with wood for more than 32 years, and uses only reclaimed wood...he never purchases wood or cuts down trees.
