One-of-a-kind koa wood bowl, by master turner Dr. Craig Mason. The wood for this bowl came from a Koa tree on Mount Tantalus that was removed to make room for a garage. Dr. Mason saved it from the chipper.
If yuo use your imagination and squint, the bark inclusion in the center looks like a humpback whale
Dr. Mason has been working with wood for more than 32 years, and uses only reclaimed wood...he never purchases wood or cuts down trees.
